Celebrity Overhaul
Sunday, October 30th, 2005You know a TV network is clutching at straws when they try to combine reality, celebrities, travel and weight loss into one show.
I happily ate fish and chips this evening. Yum.

I spent around $50 at the Australian iTunes Music Store yesterday.
I can see this thing being very bad for my bank balance. :(
Sentimental Mode: On.
I was very saddened today to see the title “Fray is on Hiatus” in Derek’s del.icio.us feed.
Since 1996 Fray was undoubtedly a pioneer in terms of personal story-telling, design and community on the web. Probably more than Derek realises. After 9 years it’s sad to see something that was once such a huge source of inspiration fall by the wayside. It seems to be happening a lot lately (the latest incarnation of Glassdog springs to mind).
But still, I regularly (and proudly) wear my Fray t-shirts and I feel very privileged to have seen the project born, bred and buried, and to have been a part of the yearly Fray Day events. Big props to Derek for all the work and effort he put in.
Props to Frank, Manuel and Jamie for taking out the Best Dance Release ARIA.
Much respect.
I am now the proud owner of an iriver H340. It’s big, heavy and hideously ugly, but it has all the features I want so I comprimised.
I wanted something that would record the radio show as well as the odd DJ set. I can play the recordings to my grandkids one day and they can tease me about what a dork I am. What a thought. It has the added benefit of being a portable backup/storage device, and Karl reckons the latest firmware will let you play movies too. Woo!
Today was the best day I’ve had in ages.
Our toilet was fixed this morning. It never really occurred to me how convenient it is to have a working toilet in your house, or what it would be like to have to put forethought into your toilet schedule. The smell in the house was awful but thankfully it’s gone now.
Yes, I agree, it’s sad that I’m blogging about how happy I am to have a working toilet. But hey, it’s the simple things, right?
Anyway, a photo I took of Karl a few months back is in InPress this week. Full page print. I’ve only ever seen my photos printed at 6×4 so it’s nice to finally have a large print, even if it is on crappy newspaper stock. It’s definitely not my best work but I’m chuffed nevertheless.

Also today, I was booked to play at a large party coming up soon. More about that when the line-up is officially announced. ;)
And of course tonight there was Black Cat. It doesn’t matter how bad my week is going, I always look forward to going there. Thursdays just wouldn’t be the same without that place. Good tunes, good couches and good company. They have also started selling Agwa. Yum!
New bar on the block; Six Links is doing a series of nights dubbed “An Evening With…”.
7-11pm. Downstairs, 228 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
I like Google as much as the next guy, but seriously:
“When we first knew that my wife Carol is pregnant, I said, ‘we will name our child Google.’”
Kev discusses the collaboration between Zend and IBM. Worth a read if you’re that way inclined.
I’ve been hunting for the perfect PHP IDE for years. Each has fallen short in it’s own special way. Here’s hoping these guys can pull something special out of the bag.
Mike Walters has constructed a homebrew Mellotron made out of 14 old walkmans. Each walkman runs continuously with the first rolling out the beats and the rest playing original Mellotron sampled loops.
Wicked!
