If It’s Not Fixed It’s Broken

Monday, November 28th, 2005

After some 8 months I finally got my bike back from the mechanic. Despite the extremely long wait he did a wonderful job.

I forgot about the weird (and often disapproving) looks you get from the lycra-wearing-latte-sipping-weekend-roadies when you ride past them on a track bike. Like you’re too poor to afford a bike with brakes and more than one gear, or maybe that you just don’t know any better.

Newsflash to the dickheads that berrated me on Bridge Road on Sunday: No one cares if your $8k mostly-carbon-fibre bike is under the UCI weight limit or not. No, one.

33&1/3 :: New Years Day

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

The lineup has been officially announced for 33&1/3 Breakbeat BBQ on New Years Day. Stanton Warriors, Andy Smith, ILS… can’t wait. Four areas of madness. I’ll be playing in the Balcony room. Woo!

Gush, gush, gush!

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

I just arrived home from the Melbourne Beats 1st birthday BBQ. The weather was lovely and the company was fantastic. They made me make a speech. Horrifying.

Time for a hot shower and a nap.

Then onto tomorrow. I hope it goes well. :)

iTMS :: Just For You (episode 2)

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

It just gets sillier:

You bought: Ian Brown – F.E.A.R
We recommend: Keith Richards

Not impressed. Really -not- impressed.

I am taking it upon myself to expose the insanity that is the iTMS recommendation system.

A Better Place

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

Life is full of surprises. :)

In other news, in less than 3 weeks I will be lying on a beach at Hamilton Island sipping cocktails from coconuts. Actually, I don’t think they do cocktails in coconuts there, but it’s nice just to day-dream about it anyway. I am very much looking forward to it, although it will be a little strange. Things are a lot different since my previous visit to that place.

I was introduced to Blockhead on Sunday evening by someone that clearly knows a lot more about music than me (I certainly don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of music; not even close, but I always feel like I should know -every- label, track, artist, etc). Music By Cavelight is now my most recent iTMS purchase. Fantastic album. Everyone should own it.

Did This Really Happen?

Saturday, November 12th, 2005

1:30am. I’m supposed to do the radio show in a couple of hours. Got woken up and can’t get back to sleep. So, what else is there to do but blog? Yay for another sleep deprived weekend.

There is something really wrong with going to bed when it’s still light outside. Reminds me of growing up and having to go to bed really early when all the kids in the neighbourhood were still out and about, often playing in the backyard next door, right outside my window.

Perhaps having 2 Red Bulls this afternoon was not such a good idea after all.

No more complaining. It’s been a good week. :)

Got It

Friday, November 11th, 2005

It’s a Sebadoh kind of evening.

I don’t quite get it, but I know you’ve got it.
I don’t care if nothing else goes my way all day.

Heras Suspended

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005

Hrm. Roberto Heras has returned a positive A sample for EPO and has been suspended by Liberty Seguros.

4 time Veulta a Espana winner or not, it amazes me that these things are leaked before the result of the B sample is known. Something really (really) needs to be done to ensure the privacy of athletes is protected.
